About Liz Hoffmann

As a holistic health practitioner, my passion is using Eastern healing methods to enhance my clients' well-being. I was first introduced to shiatsu as a college student in Tokyo while training Shotokan Karate at International Christian University. I experienced first hand how shiatsu improves flexibility, speeds recovery time and enhances performance. I studied shiatsu at the renowned Ohashi Institute in New York City where I received my certification in 1994 and then opened my full time practice.

My interest in Asian philosophy, language and culture underlies my shiatsu practice. It enables me to fully use my skills and knowledge to help my clients heal, relax, and achieve healthier, happier lives. My karate and yoga training help me recognize and understand movement issues while Zen concepts of mindfulness, balance and meditation bring a spiritual component to each session.

Over the years, I have enhanced my practice with reflexology and aromatherapy by studying at the International Institute of Reflexology and the Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy. Most recently, I graduated from the Northern Virginia School of Therapeutic Massage. I am licensed in New Jersey and Washington, DC.

Before pursuing my holistic career, I graduated from Georgetown University with a BS in Japanese. I worked for Nissho Iwai American Corporation for 10 years, and studied and worked in Japan for 3 years.

I look forward to discussing how shiatsu can enhance your life.
